Ian Skelly is a TV and Radio presenter, an internationally published writer, filmmaker and concert presenter with 30 years’ experience of live national broadcasting and performance.

A familiar voice in the UK on the BBC’s classical music station BBC Radio 3

Ian is one of the two presenters of BBC Radio 3’s daily mid-morning classical music show, Essential Classics. Working with the world’s top orchestras and many renowned soloists, Ian is also a host/presenter of the station’s evening concert strand, Radio 3 in Concert, hosting concerts on air and on stage from the UK’s top venues. During the summer he hosts plenty of concerts at the BBC Proms - the world’s biggest classical music festival - and presents live-streamed events, pre concert discussions and full scale shows for many orchestras, London concert halls and the Royal Opera House.

A writer and documentary maker for the BBC, he is the author of a musical stage show and, as a writer and filmmaker, has worked closely with the former Prince of Wales - now King - on many of his high profile speeches and publications. They co-authored the book Harmony, published worldwide by HarperCollins, and Ian was script editor and an exec producer on a series of films and TV documentaries made in the UK and the USA.
